Well, with one win in the books it seems like a lot of people are talking like Kelly is King. But the Loyal Sons aren’t drinking the Kool Aid yet. Since when is a well coached, disciplined team something to herald greatness about rather than just expect at Notre Dame? Are we encouraged? Yes. But let’s see how we handle Michigan.
And we’re off. Just three days away from a new era of Notre Dame football taking the field. A new era has begun for the Loyal Sons as well. Sprout appears to have beaten Shaq Evans to Oregon, as he has taken his beard out West. But like anything else in life, the show must go on.
Season Three of the Subway Alumni Show kicks off next Wednesday, September 1st and Sprout is no where to be found.
That’s all everyone wants to talk about. Data. This coach did this. This coach can’t do that. Give us a break. You don’t know shit until they prove it on the field.
As of Wednesday, nothing is final yet in the coaching search, but there are strong rumors pointing to a Friday announcement. Until then, we’re taking a look back at the season that could have been.
“Do not speak unless you can improve the silence” -Ghandi (For real, we know a guy who’s sister-in-law’s great uncle was his neighbor.) But seriously…does anyone have the patience to just wait this out without spreading rumors and adding to the media nonsense? Chill out.
Unreal.
Let’s take this one step at a time. Before worrying about Charlie, let’s worry about the team. What’s it going to take to produce in the red zone? What’s it going to take to win the next two games?
Eric once broke one of their mother’s statues when the Loyal Sons were kids. He ran out of the room, leaving Sprout to take the blame. Accountability. Does anyone know what that means anymore?
Just like the Irish playing a home game in Texas, we’re doing things a little different this week by filming at the Horseshoe Casino. We were given the opportunity to support Regis Philbin’s “Walk Down Memory Lane,” an event benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association…so we’re taking our own walk down memory lane.
“Fredo, you’re nothing to me now. You’re not a brother, you’re not a friend. I don’t want to know you or what you do…When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won’t be there. You understand?”
Not cheating on a test is a moral victory. Losing to USC sucks. Plain as that. And now the debate begins. Does Charlie stay or go? This week, the Loyal Sons break down their thoughts on the matter.
The Irish have had two weeks to prepare for this game. But the Loyal Sons think it goes further back than that. 31 hours, 3 minutes and 39 seconds of playing time to be exact.
After his heroics in the Washington game, everyone is talking up Clausen for Heisman. The Loyal Sons want to back it up a little first though and ask, “Is he better than Brady?”
Whose poise led the Irish to victory? Who panicked during the game? Whose fans are posers? What’s Hawaiian for “Your ass got sacked”? These questions and more are answered in this week’s Coaches Poll.
It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t as easy as everyone would have hoped. But we won. And for the moment, that’s all that matters. Sparty can take his flag home. The streak is broken.
Breakdown, indeed. Certainly not the weekend anyone was hoping for. But the Loyal Sons refuse to believe the season is over. Time to rebound and Hate State.
The Irish made Sprout, Nevada, and Las Vegas look silly by killing the spread. What’s in store for Michigan? And this week’s Coaches Poll: a review of Jim Dent’s new book, Resurrection.

Following last week’s look at the Irish offense, Sprout and Eric dive into the defense. Spring practices and graduating seniors have allowed for some new faces to fight for open spots.
Spring practices have been underway for a few weeks and the Blue and Gold game is just days away. So Sprout and Eric are previewing some of their expectations for the Irish Offense.
The Loyal Sons break down the NIT Final Four and weigh in on the Irish’s chances of winning. Plus, the Bookstore Tourney kicks off this week, and tSAS is sitting at the 5 Seed.
Sprout was wrong, Los Lobos were no match for the Irish…but just barely. So onward we roll. And this week the Loyal Sons are also taking a look at all the Spring Sports.
Sprout and Eric take a look at the teams that DID make it to the NCAA Tourney and they NITpick their way through them, deciding who the Irish could beat had they made it to the dance.
This week, the Loyal Sons take a look at what it’s going to take for the Irish to have a decent Big East Tournament showing, as well as what is going to hold them back.
Well, the Irish might as well just throw in the towel. At least we’ve got the hockey team and a great weekend thanks to the Magic Hat Mardi Gras extravaganza in Burlington, VT.
The title says it all. This week, Eric and Sprout take a stab at breaking down the hockey season. Unfortunately for them, the season is almost already over.

From the “Tornado of Terror” to a USC decommit, the Loyal Sons are pretty thrilled with the 2009 committing class. Oh, did we mention, Manti Te’o!

This Big East thing is getting serious and the Irish are quickly finding themselves on the outside looking in. Will we even make the tourney?

First there was the football team, then it was the basketball squad, and now most recently the women’s soccer team has fallen to UNC. The Curse of the Argyle lives on.
Serious rumors are flying around, but it appears the University is staying mum about Charlie. Sprout and Eric have a list of questions they’d like answered in this week’s Coaches Poll.
Sprout and Eric had a long debate if they should even post a show this week. If the Irish don’t show up to play, should they have to?
A win is a win. Everyone knows this. But damn…that was a close one. Not exactly the blowout the Loyal Sons were hoping for. Thankfully, the Irish have a cupcake team in Syracuse coming up.
Everyone is freaking out. And rightfully so. But the Loyal Sons aren’t willing to give up just yet. They are no Weis apologists, but Sprout and Eric still think the Irish can salvage some of this season.
Well, that sucked. Losing anything to anyone from Pittsburgh is never fun, and the Loyal Sons are pretty sure that this loss never should have happened.
The Pacific Northwest was very good to the Loyal Sons. They tailgated with some great friends, met many new ones, and helped the team say goodbye to an old one.
Hope everyone enjoyed the bye weekend. The Loyal Sons took the time to review the first half of the season and finalized their plans to head out west to see Tyrone.
We would much rather have this entire show be about how a little known kicker from the MAC kicked a 48 yard field goal to beat Michigan. It’s certainly a better story than talking about UNC.
This week, the Loyal Sons drink from the Blackfoot River, pay their respect to the Sorin Otters, and shamelessly attempt to get the numbers of a couple cheerleaders. Typical.
Don’t worry Mom, your Loyal Sons did not get arrested this past weekend. What Sprout and Eric can say, though, is that the Irish kicking game, whether we win or not, is an absolute crime.
Unsure on how to handle the first loss of the season, Sprout and Eric take to the drink before the show. (Read: 8 beers in 5 minutes)
