Thanks for the good wrap-up show and for a great season of shows…always enjoyable. As for the BCS chances of the 2011 team, I agree and think that next season may be a year and possibly 2 yrs too early for us to go all the way. As far as recruiting, it would appear that we have a pretty nice class shaping up although I have never been a slave to how many stars does so and so have. Of course, natural talent is important, but desire and motivation are also important at this level. I don’t think Navy ever had a 5 star recruit and they managed to whip up on us a few times recently. If BK is so good at developing players, I am interested to see how his 4 and 5 star guys develop. I am happy to see the big names signing on the defensive side of the ball because as Dr. Lou has always said, its the D that wins championships. That has been the real missing link for the last several years.

    Sprout,
You called Da U the Criminoles. Get your Florida thug teams correct.

    Criminoles= Florida State

    Convicts= Da U

So Cal Zorich on January 19th, 2011 at 9:21 am

That was an easter egg to make sure you guys were listening. Honest.

Sprout on January 19th, 2011 at 9:56 am

Yes, i truly believe that the irish have a great chance to go to the 2011 bcs, especially floyd is staying. My husband is the nd alumni and he got me into football 4 years ago. I love it and follow and every article from recruiting, game schedule to nfl draft, you ask me i know ahead of time than my husband. great job brian kelly and coaching staff. Go irish!

jessica on January 19th, 2011 at 11:47 am

Good season fellas. Sprout…really Oregon bandwagon? I can’t talk, after 13 years in Detroit, I found myself cheering for the Lions during their final stretch. And it’s okay to look at the cam, I know looking to your left is supposed to make it look like your right there with Big E, but to me it seems like you’re disinterested. Maybe you are, maybe you’re a Quacker now.

Mannix on January 19th, 2011 at 4:54 pm

Thanks for the show guys, great job as always! 226 days, 17 hours, 36 minutes until kickoff…that’s a long time to be drinking Kelly Kool-aid. GO IRISH! EFF MICHIGAN!

vegasmark on January 19th, 2011 at 6:55 pm

You guys should try the koolaid, it tastes great! BCS in 2011? YES! Not a championship, but a bcs game.At least ten wins now that Floyd is coming back. The Irish lost 3 games(M, M st., and tulsa) that they very easily could have, and should have, won. The navy debacle will not be repeated and Stanford is having a coaching change. There is not a game on the schedule these boys can not win and with the D maturing into a stingy group of guys, the Irish will have a chance to win every game. The QB situation in my opinion is a good one. Competition breeds excellence. My guess is Hendrix will be #1 after spring ball. Great show, great season, I like the idea of daily activity on your site cause I’m that eaten up with ND and I like your perspective. Go Irish! Beat the off season(giggling like a middle schooler)! F Michigan!

kyndfan on January 19th, 2011 at 7:52 pm

I can’t stand Michigan. However, isn’t Brady Hoke a little like Brian Kelly? Hoke got Ball State to a 12-1 season. He had Ball State ranked as high as #12 that season. In just his second season at San Diego State he won a bowl. I agree it was their third choice but still I think he is a far better hire than Davie or Willingham.

Jimmy Grant on January 20th, 2011 at 3:08 pm

I agree about Brey. We’ll never win with him but he looks great in a suit. That’s why they had a matched set when Davie was still here. Both looked good in suits. However, Brey does beat up on schools that have an enrollment of less than 50, but he can’t seem to beat the teams that are actually breathing. Talk about dead, this nd team is unlike anything I ever saw. Comes out in the second half sleepwalking after the inspirational halftime speech.

As always, good show Sprout and Eric and congrats on a great season. No it wasn’t the same as it was in past seasons because of the distance, but you guys should be proud. Your hard work and dedication to the show was never lost along the way and it didn’t go unnoticed by your appreciative viewers. You guys started a great and unique weekly show a few years back now and it is still unlike anything else out there for Nd football (which is saying a lot for as many sites that are dedicated to Nd football) and here’s to hoping you guys continue to run with that next year because that’s what you guys and this site are all about.

Take care, great job again and Go ND

Dale on January 22nd, 2011 at 1:45 pm

I have to say that despite the frustration of losing to St John’s and getting blown out by marquette(w/o carleton scott) I’m quite pleased with Mike Brey’s transformation as a basketball coach since the Harangody injury last year. Now, I’m not saying that I truly believe he is the guy that could take ND to the next level, but for the first time I do believe he is moving in the right direction. Go back and look at the last 5 years……Brey used to run this up and down style and he would try and get into track meets with far more athletic Big East teams. He would let the likes of Falls, Chris Thomas, McCallarney etc etc jack 3’s from 27 feet without any rebounders with a fresh shot clock. That used to be SO f-cking infuriating to me. Believe me dude, I wanted that dude’s head before he changed up his style.

The “burn” offense has limited their defensive possesions, which have made them a better defensive team. They are a very intelligent and unselfish team, and Brey is running a system that fits his players abilities. If he can lure some recruits and adhere to this system you will see the Irish in the tourney consistently, and maybe the sweet 16 and beyond.

I don’t like to lose to Marquette by 22 either, but I will take Brey’s new style as opposed to the old style.

My family & I share the sentiments posted by Dale on 1/22.

I take back everything I ever said about Brey. Great coach great season. The test will be if we can get through the first game of the NCAA tourney.

    Ronnie K on February 12th, 2011 at 10:00 am

I wish you guys would consider doing a signing day special next year. Or maybe a spring game special? Either way, I look forward to a great year of ND football in 2011! Go Irish! And $%*! Michigan!

    Irish007 on February 16th, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Halftime interview with Brey ” it feels like we should be down by twenty”. Three minutes into the second half we are down by twenty. Great stuff. Down with Brey

Josh on March 21st, 2011 at 7:44 am

A little dig about the ladies BBall game. Let’s remember that you should not let the other team’s all american player shoot her favorite shots around the basket. I thought maybe they should have put up a defense so she would not touch the ball. Maybe they were waiting for Ms. Harris to get cold. Game should have been a win but maybe Brey was coaching from behind the bench. I think I heard him saying, “Let her shot until she gets tired. Then we’ll pounce on them!”.

    Ronnie K on April 7th, 2011 at 2:21 pm

Do yall have a date in mind if your gonna do a pre-season episode? cant wait till the season starts!!!!!!

Boy I am looking at Stub Hub for tickets for the year.
Not much in the way of bargins.
Anybody out there have any other spots to look at?
Only 58 days and 28 mins to kick off for the start of the season. Go Irish.

kzoo Ron on July 6th, 2011 at 12:03 pm

@kzoo- i got my tickets on ebay, and thats where i got them in the past and have always been cheaper than Stub Hub, just from my personal experience….

JJ on July 7th, 2011 at 11:41 am

“All beer and no Subway Alumni Show makes Franky go, crazy!” Blah, ha, ha, ha. Its almost time for some Notre Dame football, can’t wait. But seriously, when is the pre-season show, or any new show for that matter?

Frank on July 15th, 2011 at 7:49 pm

Hey Domers. This is my 16th season of ND optimism. I know one of these years my predictions will come through. I hope I don’t hear the phrase, “That’s what you said last year and the year before etc…………….

I still find it hard to believe that with the players we had, our records could be so bad. In 2011, GO IRISH

    Ronnie K on July 23rd, 2011 at 7:04 pm

Guys, hang in there with the new format… as tough as it is you are making it work: it is as enjoyable as ever. pls post when your first show will be… maybe do one in two weeks after summer practice is well underway. JJ on August 9th, 2011 at 6:32 pm

Any time table on when you guys are coming back? Season is around the corner and training camp is in full swing with some nice position battles that are proving pretty strong with a lot of depth at most of the positions. Can’t wait for a great season with a championship type defense and to see who comes out of the qb battle (Crist). It’s time to come back and pump up nd nation again for another year. Go Irish!
