Great Show. I wanted to touch base a little on the offensive side of the ball. First I think moving Aldrige to Full back is going to have a huge impact this year and create a lot of mismatches for our opponents. Having him and Allen in the backfield and splitting Allen out should be a nightmare for Def.. Allen is a good reciever and still leaves a good option for run with Aldrige. I think the line will be much improved with “the ducc” in charge now. If you have a chance to listen to him coach he’s a high energy guy that we’ve been needing. Our receivers speak for themselves, and hopefully Kamara learns how to catch again and will give us some added size at that position. Look forward to the Defensive side next week. Randy Hart is another high energy guy who brings some old school no nonsense way of coaching. I belive that our defense has a chance to overshadow the offense this year. I like that we went back to a 4-3 and should allow Tenuta to blitz with more sucess this year. Our linebackers should excell and make a lot of plays.
I am born and raised in S.B. and have blead B&G all my life, it’s nice to see the same passion from you guys. Where do you spend your time on Sats on Game days. I party in White Trash Field. Couldn’t recognize the label from your barley pop. What were you drinking?

Thanks for the input Josh, good stuff. It will definitely be interesting to see how any type of running game develops this year. Not sure if Weis is keeping the “pound the ball” mentality of last year, but having a stronger o-line and the Ducc getting them in line, you’re right, it should be a nightmare for defenses.

The beer of choice is Magic Hat, great stuff and good people. I highly recommend it. Also, we usually tailgate at Pole 13 of the Joyce Lot, but we’ve been known to wander from time to time. Keep your eyes out and we’ll share a beer next season.

Guys, just found you guys on NDNation. Love the enthusiasm. I grew up just a few miles from campus and have been a huge fan for life. Great stuff, keep up the good work. Go Irish!

And you are right, the Blue/Gold Game is a great party… exciting weekend.

    Go Irish!

I like what you guys do. You guys mentioned that you expect the offensive line to look good when they are allowed to “cut”. But, doesn’t an lineman have to cut when they are slow to get to a block? Isn’t is kind of a last resort? I just think it’s not a good idea to assume the o-line will be much better ‘cuz they can block low.

    Am I way off here?

The offense in it’s first scrimmage had a lot of balls batted down. When you cut block while in pass protection your defenders usually don’t get that oppurtunity.

No, you certainly aren’t way off. Cutting is a last resort, but it is a major part of the game.

In scrimmages, the O-line has been forced to hold back, so there have been a lot of tipped passes, sacks, and a stifled running gamed because the D was getting through so easily. So people have voiced concern about this.

But this week, they are letting them go all out, so the improvement in the line should be seen. Essentially, forcing them not to rely on cutting has hopefully made them faster and more mentally aware of things, but cutting is and always will be part of the game.

I’ve read that there will be a number of recruits for the game next weekend. Any chance will come away with any commitments?

Nice placement of the diplomas up top. What are the universities? Looking forward to next weeks preview of the defense – Anello for Heisman…you know it!

I went to Wash U in St Louis and Eric is a Loyola Chicago grad. Notre Dame has since sent us both letters apologizing for not letting us in.

Great show, great concept…tons of Subway Alumni out here to connect with..on ND and the Heismann,
    my thoughts.

ND will not have a Heismann candidate in the top 3 until the NBC contract is cancelled. Reasoning ?
CBS, ABC and ESPN have no vested interest in promoting a ND guy as these networks cover less than 50% of ND’s games…in most years, only one or two games per year. Therefore, the other networks promote Heismann candidates from the teams televised to hype the ratings.

Keep up the great show !!

i wait a week to watch the episode and i’m in the opening monologue. serves me right.

    1) I agree with you on the shirts because of those cheesy lines come from the fight song. They just move to the next line in the song the next year.

    2) I assume you guys are Subway Alumni like me(hence the name of the show). My pops went there, and I’m a huge fan.

    3) I think the O line issue should be rated #1 on your list. Armando Allen may not be the second coming, but a good O line would definitely open things up for him.

    4) great show and magic hat is the bomb.
