couple things. bob davie is my favorite ND coach of all time. grimes is a beast, he’s my brother’s roommate. i had a great run in with george o’leary when he was coach.

    good first show.

Are you serious?? Does that mean we can stay with your brother when we go up for games?

Sprout on September 3rd, 2008 at 9:24 am

How does the coaches poll not include Leahy? He won 4 National Titles. Otherwise, great job. Go IRISH!

We wanted a decent range with the Coaches Poll so that when we need to say something really bites (looking your way Offensive Line), we have an appropriate coach to match it up to. (ie Faust and O’Leary)

Leahy was right up there with Holtz and Parseghian, but we were afraid that including him in the mix wouldn’t leave much disparity at the top.

I particularly enjoy the numerous “bleeps” whenever Michigan is mentioned. Good show, I look forward to next week’s.

Great opener! I’m even more pumped for the season to start. I can’t argue with drinking Great Lakes, but if you really want to capture the spirit of Notre Dame football, I think some mountains need to be prominently displayed on the beers for the next show. Go Irish!

babytev on September 3rd, 2008 at 5:28 pm

Thanks for the advice babytev. It’s a long season, I promise you will see some mountain beers. Go Irish!

Eric on September 3rd, 2008 at 7:26 pm

ive been waiting patiently for the first show to be posted, and u guys delivered well. first of all great beer choice. i see big things happening if we can get parris and clausen on the same page this year.if not it could be rough. well done men. go cats. go irish.

bigfunn on September 3rd, 2008 at 8:21 pm

@bigfunn: It’ll definitely be interesting to watch Parris and Clausen grow together. If they get on the same page, I think it’s pretty obvious that great things are in the future for the Irish, not just this season but next.

@babytev: if we don’t drink mountain beer at least once on the show, we won’t have done our jobs as Subway Alumni. Don’t worry.

Golden Tate the baseball player/wide receiver is going to be special this year and the coming years.

The last receiver who also played baseball for Notre Dame, some guy named Samardzija

Mike on September 4th, 2008 at 10:00 am

Didn’t realize Tate was on the baseball team too. Maybe he’ll eventually be a two-sport pro athlete in Cleveland. I’m sure Quinn wouldn’t mind having another Irish receiver to throw too.

And Mike, what do you think the chances of Ty still being your head coach by the time we come out for the game?

Sprout on September 4th, 2008 at 10:46 am

once we lose to BYU and not get passed the 50 against Oklahoma, I would say the chances are pretty good he resigns during the bye week after Oklahoma.

I dont think i’ll be able to cheer against the Irish that game

Mike on September 4th, 2008 at 3:35 pm

I would still take Locker over Clausen however

Mike on September 4th, 2008 at 3:36 pm

That’s because you’ve become a Washington homer. Let’s see what you say after Clausen has a career performance against you guys.

Sprout on September 4th, 2008 at 4:12 pm

I just hope ND doesn’t blow what could be a very good chance to beat our common enemy, [REDACTED].

    Your show props are
    1. more professional
    2. better executed
    3. involve less spittle
    that Holtz’s on ESPN.

We appreciate the praise, but have you seen Dr. Lou? And what about the magic trick he did last year during his pep talk with the torn newspaper?

    The man is above us.

    His enthusiasm is unmatched.

Just cracked open our first beers in prep for the OSU game. Good luck, as if you’ll need it.

Sprout on September 6th, 2008 at 8:48 am

Great show, guys. Just one thing: if you want to stay true to some Irish roots, skip the beer and go straight to the whiskey.

kmoose on September 7th, 2008 at 8:10 pm

Trust me, if we continue to play the way we did against San Diego State, we’ll all be drinking whiskey.

Sprout on September 8th, 2008 at 4:54 am

Love the show! For us old-timers we feel like we are sitting right there at the Huddle having the same conversation. We had it good …. Joe Theisman, Tommy Clements and Joe Montanan as quarterbacks with Ara during 4 years. WOW

Trish Erickson on September 9th, 2008 at 7:55 am

Great show. What’s up with the sweater vest though? You guys lose a bet?
