    Welcome back everyone!

Being from N.E. Pennsylvania, the ending to this game still gives me goosebumps. Not only was it a great ND game, but the win could not have come against a better game for me. The rivalry between ND and Penn State in Pennsylvania is intense. I love the was JoePa just shrugs after Reggie Brooks catches the 2-pt conversion. Great call on this game guys. Let me ask you, what was the best ND game you have ever been to in the stadium?

John on July 29th, 2009 at 6:32 am

Good to have you guys back on the air, I can’t wait till kickoff. I watched all last year but never sent in a post. You guys have a great show and I love watching, even all the way down here in Tallahassee. I’ve been up to see gamest he past 2 years and will be at the Mich. St game this year. LETS GO IRISH

Kelly Kitchens on July 29th, 2009 at 6:33 am

@John It’s tough to say what the best game we’ve been to was. Unfortunately, in recent years it’s been easier to remember the bad ones that we’d rather erase from our memory.

I think I went to a handful of the MSU games where we just can not seem to find anyway to beat them. I was at the BC game a few years ago when Gonzales caught the ball in the end zone to win. We were at the ‘Cuse game last year. Lots of heart breakers.

I definitely remember watching the Snow Bowl at my grandparents though and going nuts.

@Kelly, glad we have fans down in Florida. All our family down there constantly feel the need to Gator Chomp us.

    Welcome back all!

@Kelly, happy to see you’ve survived the off-season…only 38 days till kickoff.

@John Also tough to pick which game was the best for me. I was on MSU’s campus for the comeback game in the rain, didn’t have a ticket but it was still an awesome environment to be in. As for best in the Stadium? probably last years dismantling of Michigan, that first quarter in the rain was pretty memorable. Felt good to just take their hearts out right from the get-go.

Eric on July 29th, 2009 at 7:25 am

Love it fellas. Looking forward to the new season.

It’s looking like I could end up at Nevada, MSU, and BC for sure this year, and possibly another one or two if I scrounge up some tickets.

The book store used to sell a ” music box”. When opened, it replayed radio highlights. The PAT of the PSU – ND game was one of the three games on the replay. Nothing like listening to Tony Roberts call an ND game. Bring back Tony Roberts!

Tom on July 29th, 2009 at 8:27 am

Was there for Harry Oliver’s kick to beat Michigan – Lost count of all the games I’ve seen but that was the best

Mike on July 29th, 2009 at 8:43 am

That is one hell of a play especially with your high tech graphics, I agree with the Michigan quote.
Also could not agree more on Tom’s request to bring back Tony Roberts. I spend a lot of Saturdays on the road and listing to the broadcaster they now have (can’t think of his name) drives me crazy. Like listing to Harry doing the Cub’s games in his last years.
Only 38 days till kick off. God I hope this year does not disappoint.

I am a Notre Dame fan since birth (so I don’t want to hear anything about sore loser), but has anyone looked really closely at the Reggie Brooks catch in the Snow Bowl. The view in the video I have seen makes me wonder if it might have hit the ground. Anyone have a different video view?

Mike Hawkins on July 29th, 2009 at 3:54 pm

Not really sure what you’re talking about. The video above clearly shows it as a catch.

But yeah, I’ve never really seen a view other than this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzgyoNdKiQA&feature=related

Welcome back guys. Getting pumped for another football season…I’ll have a chance to make it up to South Bend this year too. I’ll be up there for Nevada. Can’t beat that.

It’s like Ground Hog Day! ND football is just around the corner when Sprout and Eric show up. Can’t wait. Great to see you guys back. Just to get everyone going, here’s a great ND 2009 Pump Up video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vq_exyGQyw Is there any better combination than ND highlights set to music from Rudy? Gives you goosebumps EVERY time!

Great to have you guys back after the long summer! Now when in the hell are you going to get more XL shirts in stock!

Nice “pre-season” vid!! Buddy of mine that eats, sleeps and makes love on the ND message boards keeps sending me posts and pictures from this guy. I don’t know who he is, but he’s hanging with the players and getting some pictures of some, as they say in the south, “sons-of-a-bitches”. Looks like the ND conditioning program is alive an well.

    Check it out…

On the Reggie Brooks Snow Bowl catch…check out the shot of the catch on the Reggie Brooks 1992 highlights on the BGS video vault that’s the one that caught my eye and made me start to wonder…

Mike Hawkins on July 31st, 2009 at 8:07 pm

@Clutch, thanks for those pics. There’s some good ones in there. And some creepy ones…like of the dude’s wedding??

@Mike, the only thing that video officially confirms is that Brooks was a beast. Why can’t we get talent like that anymore? But you’re right, the angle of that play in there definitely does make it look suspect. I’m sure now-a-days, that would have been reviewed like crazy and probably overturned, but it’s hard to really tell from that quality. I’d like to believe his had is under that ball when he hits the ground.

Speaking of game changing calls, how did the refs pick the spot in the 2005 USC game after Leinart fumbled? Clearly, after the hit, he fumbled the ball backwards at least a couple yards where it crossed out of bounds. How did they spot it on the one? If they ruled the play dead by contact and spotted the ball at the one, the clock should have kept running and the game should have been over with no more time outs for USC. If they ruled it a fumble, it should have been placed where it went out of bounds. Am I the only one who saw it this way?

Mike Hawkins on August 2nd, 2009 at 9:17 am

    @ Mike
Way to open up old wounds with the USC game there. Whenever I watch that tape, I stop it right before the 4th down play that SC converts for 70 some odd yards or what have you. Tough to let that game go; don’t like to talk about it. My fondest memory of being in that stadium is one that many seem to forget. 1999 against USC when they were down 24-3 in the second half and came back to win 25-24… also in a driving rain storm. Great blog here, guys. I’ll be at the UCONN game, hopefully in the snow.
